According to Florida Highway Patrol’s statement, a man was arrested in Mexico in connection with the accident that took place in 2007 and resulted in the death of a couple.
AVON PARK, FLORIDA (AP) – A man was arrested in Mexico in connection with a crash in central Florida that killed a couple, Florida Highway Patrol said Wednesday, and the man facing charges has been brought to the United States.
Authorities have filed a criminal complaint against Brian Dale Andrews in connection with the June 30, 2007 accident near Avon Park, according to a press release. Andrews had alcohol in his blood that exceeded the legal limit four times at the time of the accident.
Danny and Patricia McCown died in the accident. Andrews left the United States to avoid prosecution.
Soldier Chris Wells and others continued their work to find Andrews. According to the news release, Wells received word that someone who looked like Andrews had been spotted in Mexico City. Andrews was arrested on Monday after the highway patrol teamed up with the United States Marshal’s Service.
Andrews was charged Wednesday with felony charges in Florida that included two DUI killings, driving with a suspended license, and DUI property damage.
It is unknown if Andrews has a lawyer.
