A 75-year-old man undergoing heart surgery was punched to the chest at Publix.

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – A 75-year-old man who had recently undergone heart surgery was said to have been punched by a woman after he drew attention to social distancing, according to police.

Captain Mike Fowler, of Daytona Beach Shores, said the incident took place on Sunday evening.

A woman approached from behind the man and told him to watch his distance from customers, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. A man, who was in a different row with the woman, also left the store with the woman.

As the old man left the store and loaded his belongings in his car, the woman and the young man with her approached the man. The young man punched the old man in the chest.

According to the old man’s statement to the police, the young man gave him a name and accused him of keeping the queue inside the store.

Fowler said the old man was punched, fell to the ground and hit his head. He later said that the attacker threatened to kill him by climbing on the man.

The cops said that the young man and woman had left in a new Cadillac.
