Florida Man Birthday April 15
The world’s most dangerous bird has killed a Florida man
ALACHUA, Florida (AP) – A bird species native to Australia and New Guinea has killed the rancher when it fell, officials said.
The Alachua County Fire Rescue Department told the Gainesville Sun on Friday that the Cassowary bird had killed a man. According to wildlife officials, the victim was feeding the birds.
“I think the dead man fell to the ground next to the bird,” said Vice President Jeff Taylor. First aid crews learned of the incident at 10 am on Friday morning and went to the scene. However, despite the intervention of the teams, the man lost his life.”
The county sheriff’s office has launched an investigation into the death of 75-year-old Marvin Hajos. Lieutenant Brett Rhodenizer said, “It looks like Marvin Hajos has fallen victim to a tragic accident. The Cassowary bird is still on the farm,” he said.
The Cassowary bird can reach 6 feet in length and 130 pounds in weight. It is similar to the bird Emus, with black plumage and a bright blue head.
According to the information on the San Diego Zoo’s website, the Cassowary bird has 4 inch long claws on one foot, which can inflict serious damage to its enemies. The Cassowary bird can reach speeds of up to 31 miles per hour.
The Cassowary bird is eaten in parts of its homeland, New Guinea. However, these birds are preferred by those who keep exotic birds in the USA.
Spokesperson Karen Parker says owners of Cassowary birds should have experience and have ideal cages for the birds. Cassowary birds are capable of deadly attacks on humans.
Wildlife officials did not answer calls from the Associated Press on Saturday. What will happen to the bird is not yet known.
