Florida Man Birthday October 10

A Florida man who killed a man and set his genitals on fire was arrested years after the incident

The event took place in Florida’s Big Pine Key area. Eight years after a man was killed at a campground in the Florida Keys group of islands, a Florida man has been arrested. The genitals of the man killed at the campsite were also set on fire.

A murder case that went unsolved for years has finally concluded. In a statement made by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the chance has been sought for years. Hugh Timothy Blanton, 54, was arrested for the 2012 murder of Ronald Silvia.

Silvia’s body was found burned at Seahorse Campground in January 2012. As a result of their investigations, investigators determined that the fire was started from Silvia’s genitals. The autopsy revealed that Silvia had been severely beaten and strangled before he was killed.

He was 65 when Silvia’s charred body was found. According to the information given by the neighbors to the deputy sheriffs, Blanton and Silvia had a big argument before Silvia was killed. The reason for the controversy was that Silvia shared pictures of Blanton’s genitals online.

Blanton was arrested about a month after the murder was committed. Arrested while hitchhiking, Blanton was interrogated by Monroe County detectives. During this interrogation, he gave various information about Silvia. But he never admitted his guilt.

During the investigation, Blanton stated that he was angry with Silvia. He admitted that he was enraged when Silvia took a picture of his genitals and posted it online. While he explained that they were in a platonic relationship with him, he said that he was alive when he broke up with Silvia.

Information from the residents confirmed that there was a romantic relationship between Blanton and Silvia. Also, Blanton admitted to using Silvia’s cell phone after his body was burned. He said he carried two phones with him when he went to jail for a different unrelated charge.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has expanded its investigation into the incident. Detectives attached to the sheriff’s office had guessed from the very beginning that one of the phones belonged to Silvia. But when Blanton was arrested for the incident in Massachusetts, the phone was never heard from again.

The detectives compared the DNA sample taken from Blanton with the DNA sample taken from Silvia’s fingernails. The case dragged on after a match was found between the two DNA samples. Until May 2020, no progress was made in the case file.

Blanton was in jail for a battery charge in Volusia, Florida. Detectives tracked down the Silvia case re-examined Blanton, who denied knowing Silvia but going to the Florida Keys. Blanton was found guilty of Silvia’s murder. He will be tried on murder and arson charges.
