Florida Man Birthday November 20
Singer Mariah Carey defends Florida man about to be fined for Christmas decorations
A Florida man decided to decorate his house for Christmas. However, he was fined by the homeowner’s association (HOA) for doing so too soon. People who didn’t think there was a specific time to decorate for Christmas backed the Florida man. One of them was singer Mariah Carey.
There’s a question on everyone’s mind right now in Florida. How early can it be to start decorating the house for Christmas? Singer Mariah Carey was involved in a discussion on the subject and voiced her thoughts. Carey responded to a piece of news shared on Twitter. The response soon went viral and trending.
One homeowner, Michael Moffa, was fined $1,000 by the HOA. The reason was that he had started Christmas preparations before Thanksgiving. The most important support for Moffa, who found the fine given to him funny, came from Carey. Carey shared the news of the sentence with nearly 21 million Twitter followers and included her comment.
Carey said she started her Christmas preparations after Thanksgiving. However, she mentioned that there is no regulatory rule in this regard. Carey’s related post, who indirectly supported the Florida man, managed to become a trending topic on Twitter.
Carey sang a song called “All I Want for Christmas is You” in 1994. This song by Carey was named one of the “100 best holiday songs of all time” by Billboard.com. Carey made a post at the beginning of November to share her feelings for Christmas.
There was a video in the post. In the video, Carey smashes several jack-o’-lanterns. The song “All I Want for Christmas is You” was playing in the background. Guinness World Records joked that Carey’s post was “a new record for the earliest Christmas celebration”.
Florida man Moffa, who was fined by the HOA, was not so lucky. Moffa offered to keep the Christmas lights off until Thanksgiving. However, the HOA management did not approve of this idea and fined Moffa. Moffa, on the other hand, argued that brighter things are needed to have fun in a time when the pandemic reigns.
The punishment imposed by the HOA was implemented, even if it seemed a little strange. A lawyer stated that the decision made by the HOA management is re-evaluable. He explained that this is possible if enough support is received from the residents.
Jonathan Ellis, one of the attorneys representing the Westchase Community Association, said if enough of the community wants to change something, it can be done. Ellis stated that the Westchase Community Association can make the necessary changes by listening to the residents.
