A Florida man killed the alligator with his knife and later tried to sell its meat.
LAKELAND, FLORIDA – A Florida man is accused of killing an alligator with a knife and selling its meat, WKMG-TV reported.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission received a report about a 33-year-old man named Shaun Sparks. Sparks was trying to sell the tail of the crocodile he had killed.
A hunter with a license for the incident said he found the carcass of the crocodile, which was about seven meters long. The crocodile was stabbed to death multiple times.
Sparks is charged with catching and killing an alligator. Florida law makes alligator hunting illegal.
Sparks took the alligator meat home to show his girlfriend. That’s why his girlfriend, 27-year-old Christy Michelle Vincent, was also arrested. Vincent is accused of possession of crocodile meat.
It is unknown whether Sparks and Vincent have attorneys, according to the records.
