A Florida man has been accused of murdering his father.
OMAHA, NEBRASKA (AP) — A 23-year-old Florida man is on trial for the murder related to the fatal shooting of his father. The man told the cops that his father wanted to be shot.
A Douglas County judge on Wednesday ordered the trial of 23-year-old Julian Lopez, of Palm Bay, Florida, and the gun control used in the murder of his father, 40-year-old Jose Valenzuala, the Omaha World-Herald reported.
Lopez was visiting her father, fiancee, and 5-year-old half-brother at the time of the incident. According to a detective’s statement, Valenzuala told his son Lopez to break into his bedroom and shoot him.
Lopez said in a statement that he first fired two shots at the wall, then walked over to Valenzuala and fired two shots at him.
Lopez’s lawyer argued that the intent to kill was not intentional and requested that the trial continue with the crime of accidental manslaughter.
Lopez was serving a one-year probation in Brevard County for stabbing her stepfather nine times with a knife.
