BROOKSVILLE, FLORIDA – A man working at the Florida airport is injured and killed by the helicopter rotor blades.
The incident took place in a hangar close to Tampa Bay, according to WFTS.
The officials of the office of County Sheriff Henanda Al Nienhuis were summoned to the area where the incident took place at 15:30. Authorities learned that the man had died when he arrived at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, the 62-year-old man named Salvatore Deasy died near Tampa Bay Regional Airport due to injury to the head of rotor blades.
Due to the crash of the helicopter in the hangar, two employees wanted to launch the helicopter. Blades struck Deasy’s head while the helicopter’s rotor blades were in motion, causing him to die. Deasy died right on the spot.
The sheriff stated in the meeting he held that Deasy would not be injured in another blow. It was said that the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were contacted about the incident.
