A Florida man was arrested for trying to drive a hamster ball into the Bahamas
A Florida man tried to ride an inflatable balloon into the Bermuda Triangle last weekend. The US Coast Guard rescued the man.
According to the news of the Washington Post newspaper, a man named Reza Baluchi wanted to go to the area where the Bermuda Triangle is located, starting from Pompano Beach. US Coast Guard crews voluntarily rescued Baluchi near Fort Pierce.
“Baluchi’s adventure put everyone’s lives at risk,” said Captain Austin Gould, Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Miami. The cost of rescuing Baluchi could be $144,000 to US Coast Guard teams.
According to WPLG, in October 2014, an athlete tried to drive a vehicle he had built at home in the water. He was rescued by security teams when the vehicle’s GPS broke down. He tried again on April 13, as it was windy.
Coast Guard teams sent a letter to Baluchi. In the letter, “We consider you insecure on the way you go without support ships. If you are going to make a trip, you should plan with the support of the coast guard personnel.” Baluchi was also warned that he could face seven years in prison and a $40,000 fine if he embarks on such an adventure again.
Baluchi did not make any statement about whether he would try again.
