A Florida man kidnapped his girlfriend in Covington area and threatened to kill her

A Florida man kidnapped his girlfriend with knifepoint, authorities said. He took her from Largo, Florida, to Covington, Louisiana. When the incident was reported to law enforcement, the man was detained and then sent to prison.

According to the detailed information shared by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office about the incident, a person named Jay Langford was arrested and sent to prison on charges of domestic abuse, simple assault, possession of Xanax and resisting an officer.

In a report to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, a citizen stated that a woman was in danger. The citizen who made the report stated that a woman was in danger in the backseat of a car. He called 911 after realizing the situation.

Shortly after, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office phone rang again. This time the caller was the woman in the car. The woman managed to escape from the car by jumping out the car’s window. The woman stated that she was threatened by the man driving the car. The man had told her, “I’m going to kill you and throw your body into a dead end,” the woman claimed.

Investigators, who continued their investigations into the incident, learned that the woman told everything to the deputy sheriffs. The woman, who was abducted by Jay Langford, told deputy sheriffs that they arrived in the Covington area on September 12 and stayed in a house just off Highway 1708.

Stating that she was abducted from her home in Largo on September 11 and then brought to Covington, the woman stated that she started to be beaten as of September 18. The woman, who was beaten repeatedly, was also threatened with death many times.

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office officials spotted Jay Langford on his way home, at Highway 1078, and tried to stop him. When Jay Langford spotted the patrol car, he tried to flee and a high-speed chase began. After a short chase, Jay Langford was taken into custody.
