Florida Man Birthday October 14
A toddler shot his mother with a gun he found at home, and the toddler’s father was charged with reckless killing.
The incident took place in the Florida suburban of Altamonte Springs. A toddler shot his mother while she was doing a video job interview via Zoom with a gun he found at home. The boy’s father was charged with failing to store the gun safely and with reckless killing.
Altamonte Springs police announced that 22-year-old Veondre Avery was detained for reckless killing. According to police, Avery left a loaded pistol in his Paw Patrol backpack. His 2-year-old toddler found this weapon and used it to kill his mother.
Investigators said that the 2-year-old toddler found the gun in Avery’s backpack on August 11 and killed his mother, Shamaya Lynn, with a single shot to the head. The deceased Lynn was having a job interview on Zoom at this time, and the person on the other end had heard everything that was going on.
The woman who had a Zoom conversation with the deceased Lynn immediately called 911 as soon as she heard the voices. In the information she gave on the emergency line, she said that she heard the gunshot and saw Lynn fall to the ground. But the woman who called 911 did not know exactly how old Lynn was and where she lived.
Altamonte Springs police confirmed that the toddler’s father, Avery, was not home at the time of the incident. Avery had arrived at the house a short time later and immediately called 911 to try and help Lynn, who was lying on the floor bleeding. He was also constantly telling the authorities on the 911 line that they had to hurry.
Avery said that when he got home and walked into the room, his girlfriend was lying on the floor and there was blood everywhere, including the computer. When he told the dispatcher that the unfortunate woman Lynn was not breathing. Also, he could not hear her heartbeat. It was understood that the woman died at the scene.
Authorities announced that there was another child in the house when the toddler was shooting with the gun. Avery was detained on charges of unsafe possession of a loaded gun and reckless killing. Avery is being held by the police without bail.
