The zoo’s lost animals were found in the home of a Florida man.
FLORIDA (UPI) – According to Florida police, 11 animals had gone missing at a university zoo. A man was arrested for having 7 of the animals that disappeared from the zoo in his home.
Sante Fe College Police arrested 20-year-old Sedrick Price for having three Florida box turtles, two red-footed turtles, a lizard and a squirrel monkey in his home.
Investigations showed that six animals were stolen from the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo between May 29 and the morning of May 30.
Officials said two box turtles and a squirrel turtle had not yet been found for the missing animals.
“Our people have made great efforts to save the animals,” he said in a statement published by the SPFD Chief Ed Book. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and the college community are grateful to the public for their tips on the rescue efforts.
Jonathan Miot, director of the Teaching Zoo, said he was hopeful that the lost animals would be found safely and healthily.
