Florida Man Birthday December 17
A Florida man got a pretty long sentence for his actions during the Capitol revolt
The Capitol revolt, which many can easily remember, took place in Washington on the eventful January 6th. A Florida man involved in these events became the longest prison sentence associated with the incident. It was determined that the Florida man threw a wooden plank and a fire extinguisher at the police who were fighting the rioters.
The sentence against the Florida man was given by a federal judge. The Florida man, one of the Capitol rebels, was charged with throwing the fire extinguishers and the wooden plank at police. A federal judge sentenced Robert Scott Palmer to more than 5 years in prison. This was the highest prison sentence ever associated with the riot.
The events that started after President Joe Biden won the election had spread to the United States Capitol. The federal judge’s sentence on Palmer was announced by The Department of Justice. Palmer was sentenced to 63 months in prison for assaulting law enforcement with dangerous weapons during the Capitol revolt.
Palmer, who came to Washington from Fargo and joined the riot, was convicted of attacking police with a deadly weapon, resisting the police, and obstructing the police from doing their job. Palmer’s sentence was the longest prison sentence in connection with the Capitol riot.
The Department of Justice has released the court records. It was stated in the records that Palmer, 54, was among the rebels outside the Capitol building. Palmer first threw the wooden plank at the Capitol police and the Washington police. He then found the fire extinguisher and sprayed it towards the cops and then threw it at them.
Police launched an extensive investigation into the incidents. Palmer was detained on March 17. Palmer pleaded guilty on October 4. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan awarded Palmer a $2,000 fine. Palmer will be released on probation for three years after completing his prison sentence.
