Florida man arrested after threatening people with beer in one hand and gun in the other

WIMAUMA, FLORIDA (CW44 News At 10) – According to information from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a man in the Wimauma area threatened people with a gun while walking on the road. The man had a gun in one hand and a beer in the other. Following complaints, the man was arrested by deputy sheriffs on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Around 11:50 am on Saturday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s phones never went silent. Threatened by a man walking on Railroad Street and State Road 674, people panicked and called the sheriff’s office. The man was pointing a gun at passing vehicles and threatening them.

Acting on the incoming reports, the deputy sheriffs reached the scene within a few minutes. They found the man threatening people with a gun while heading south of Railroad Street. Eric Ricardo Felder, 66, had a gun in one hand and a beer in the other. Sheriff’s deputies took Felder into custody without much difficulty.

Felder had a .38 Smith in his hand. He was also carrying a Wesson revolver. The man, arrested by sheriff’s deputies, was charged with possession of a firearm, two aggravated assaults with a deadly weapon, using a firearm while intoxicated, improperly displaying a dangerous weapon, and nonviolently resisting law enforcement.

Speaking after the incident, Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “It is extremely inconvenient for a drunk person to use a loaded gun in public.” Sheriff Chronister finished his words with: “I am extremely pleased that the deputies quickly found Eric Felder and arrested him. Threatening the safety of others and putting the lives of innocent people at risk is unacceptable. There is no place for such things in Hillsborough County.”
