Florida Man Birthday August 15
A Florida man who bought a toy from Walmart stated that if the toy breaks, he will come with a gun.
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA (AP) — A man who bought a remote-controlled toy car from a Walmart store threatened employees that he would come back with a gun if the toy didn’t work or break. When the situation was reported to the police, they intervened without incident.
Clearwater police spokesman Rob Shaw said Anthony Reed, 32, was arrested by police on Monday evening. District police were already on alert after the massacre at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, that left 22 people dead. Reed’s use of such a threat shortly after the incident prompted them to act.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that Reed had expressed to a Walmart employee that he was “very sensitive about his money”. Reed, who later turned to the employee and stated that he would come back with a gun if the car did not work and then left the store. After this threat, a “natural fear” developed over the employees.
Acting on the notice, the Clearwater police managed to identify Reed by checking the store’s surveillance system. When they reached Reed to arrest him, Reed stated that he was joking and didn’t even have a gun. Reed was arrested for causing a false report of violent use of a firearm.
