Florida man who deliberately coughed at the attendant at the store was arrested.
A man has been arrested for deliberately coughing at a store employee in an attempt to downplay social distancing, police said.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene when 49-year-old Christopher Canfora deliberately coughed at an officer at Harbor Freight Tools. Canfora was arrested at her Debary County home on Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault.
According to a statement from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Canfora deliberately coughed towards an employee. According to rumors, Canfora was doing this to people wearing masks and was planning to go to other stores and do the same.
Canfora initially denied the accusation against him. He also said that he does not have any symptoms of COVID-19.
Canfora stated that she did not expect anyone to understand what she was doing and that she did not remember what she said to the employee.
According to the police report, Canfora’s behavior caused fear in the mind of the attacked person that the attack would occur, and the attack was carried out deliberately.
The arrested are held in the Canfora Volusia District Branch Prison. Canfora’s bail is $5,000.
