A Florida man said alligators get to know each other during mating season
It’s normal to see alligators in Florida. However, seeing matches where crocodiles wrestle is not always the case.
Gordon Silver, who lives at Lakewood Ranch, saw two alligators recognizing each other in his garden. In the video he shared on Facebook, Silver dropped the note, “These alligators know each other at Lakewood Ranch.”
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, alligators’ mating season begins in April, followed by courtship in May or June.
Officials, who said that crocodiles can be aggressive during their mating season, warned people.
In a statement from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, “Be careful during alligator mating season. The crocodiles are more active and more aggressive than usual during this period.”
According to the information on the FWC website, it was stated that there are close to 1.3 million alligators in all 67 counties in Florida.
